In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Why base anything off of a majority who value eye contact and attitude over content? Thisidea of charisma over value, message, and real worth is absurd. Somebody should make a counter video asking why we value and follow fake ass leaders, and the answer is because we're fooled by their charisma.

People's intonation patters and body language have individual differences tho, so, while right delivery might be an important tool if you want to get a better job or more grant mney right now today, I feel that what we should really be working toward is to make a conscious effort to stop judging people over this stuff and actually listen to what they are saying.

I mean she’s basically saying, “Don’t sound fake but sound fake.” Convincing fake. Personalized Fake. Idc.

Con artists, liars and other banes on society learn to fake confident or sincere speech & fool us all because we judge by such shallow superficialities instead of using logic and critical thinking:

Thats why things like these happen:

    Con man: Buy this product!

People: He sounds so thrustworthy & flattering <3

Hitler: No more rights for Jews

Mob: He sounds so passionate and devoted to the people <3

Religious Nut: you are all shameful and dirty

Mob: He sounds so warm & Caring<3

Trump: Throw out the mexicans, also, no more healthcare for you

Mob: Such a tough, strong leader <3

    Meanwhile this also happens:

Person who is shy or anxious: A good point

    Mob: Weak

Person who is quiet and considerate: A good point

    Mob: talks over them

Person who does not use much intonation or nonverbal cues: A good point

Mob: Cold, unemotional, no presence, creepy, boring

Person who is emotional, probably for very good reason: A good point

    Mob: Bitchy, whiny, angry etc.

It’s bad enough if you sound one of the above ways because of your personality and have to suffer being told that your perfectly sincere speech is somehow wrong. But what if someone can’t help it very much because they are mentally ill or neurodivergent?

We should be empathetic, understanding toward the failings of human nature and keep them in mind, but we should NEVER EVER just surrender to them, especially when it is so hard to distinguish hardwired stuff from social convention.

Consider the highly different ideas that western & japanese audiences have of what a “villain voice” should be like. Can either of them be said to be objectively correct?

Groan…Yes that's what we really need is a world with even more leaders. America is already full to the brim with dominant, overbearing, manipulative people. Why are you teaching people to pretend to be unnatural and something other than they are? Why the obsession with being a "leader"? BTW psychopaths are expert at these sorts of illusionary techniques.

All these overrehearsed behaviors make me sick, and wary, of the deficiencies these behaviors are trying to overcome.
